Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles invites you to the first in a series of Seal Savvy Seminars: Seals & Sea Lions (How to Handle Their Intrusion)

Populations of California sea lions and Pacific harbor seals have increased dramatically since the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) was passed in 1972. Interaction with humans is becoming more and more common.

MMCC LA & NOAA would like to invite you for a discussion on how to safely and humanely protect your property and answer any questions you might have on how to handle marine mammal encounters.

Who may discourage a marine mammal from intrusion?

What species can be legally prevented from encroachment?

What options are available when encountering a marine mammal in my space?

What to do about an aggressive animal?

Who can I call for help?

Our discussion will be lead by Justin Viezbicke, California Stranding Network Coordinator for the National Marine Fisheries Service
