Educating

The Marine Mammal Care Center at Fort MacArthur, through the Center for Marine Studies, helps to educate students, schoolteachers, other professionals and the public about the marine sciences and the animals we care for. The Care Center also collaborates and networks with other agencies, museums and universities toward ongoing research in the marine field to help in the treatment of their patients.

Group tours are arranged through the Marine Mammal Care Center’s marketing and development director, or through the educational coordinator at the Center for Marine Studies. Due to safety considerations, a “tour” is limited to classroom activities and viewing the animals from outside the perimeter fence, and does not entail a behind-the-scenes (i.e. inside the fence) look at the Care Center.

The Center for Marine Studies can be reached by calling 310-547-9888.
